Aix-en-Provence
France Trip #5: Day 2
On the second day of our visit (Thursday, November 8th), I woke up, had a petit déjeuner (breakfast) and walked to the centre de la ville.
Every morning in Aix-en-Provence, there are markets that residents and visitors can make a trip to, to buy fresh food and even make some clothes purchases (if desired). We passed by the wonderful stands of fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, lavender, bread and more.
After walking around the market and buying some very delicious green and red grapes, we happened upon a shop where we saw a young woman sewing messages onto Aprons.
Vince (from first-hand experience…lucky for him) knows I appreciate cooking and have done it more regularly lately, so suggested we make a stop here for a little gift! Below is a video of the talented seamstress sewing my name and a message into apron design of choice.
On the apron, it reads “Lesley, La Reine de la cuisine,” which translates to “Lesley, the Queen of the Kitchen.” Oh yeah, you heard it folks :).
Walking the markets and getting my new apron made was satisfying enough for us for the morning, but we did walk around the city square a bit more. Here are a few more photos I captured from Aix-en-Provence.
Next up on the travel list…Arles (including Vincent Van Gogh)! So stay posted for more France adventure and history.
Until soon, mes amis 🙂
Bisous,
~Lesley~
