A Christmas Miracle, accompanied by a Musical Performance (send off to 2020)
Some people find the idea of the Christmas Miracle as cheesy. But a Christmas miracle happened the other day and it brought tears to my eyes. A friend of mine reached out to me a couple months ago. I could hear it in his voice he was was struggling hard and beat down; he didn’t sound like himself at all and was forgetting pretty major things I had told him in the past, which seemed very off. And then it made sense when he told me what was going on: he had become addicted to his pain medications/narcotics (he is a former UFC fighter and was prescribed these medications due to a few major injuries).
Even with being aware that he was addicted, he knew he needed help and–most importantly–he wanted help. So, he asked if I knew of any facilities in California–where I lived last year–or in Florida, where we both happen to reside.
Not sure off the top of my head, I asked some friends and personal contacts for some references, in which several responded–including a friend who knows an incredible resource that works with notable detox and wellness programs in Southern Florida. Putting me in touch with this invaluable contact (her name is Sharon), Sharon corresponded with me to gather details of my friend’s situation and I connected them to talk, so that she could gain further details.
Throughout two months from the day of initial contact with Sharon, she was consistent with follow up and her and I both were corresponding back and forth, regarding the status of my friend, his insurance/funding options etc. (he had a strong desire to enroll in a program, but hit some obstacles in funding/insurance feasibility). But low and behold, Sharon found a solution with an institution who was willing to provide some scholarship and flexibility in this area, and my friend was able to enroll in the program.
So, I received these wonderful messages recently from my friend (below) and my heart was so full!
